Pôle emploi

Pole-emploi.fr: the reference for online job portals

Mission: enhancing the reputation of the French Employment Services Center ‘Pôle emploi’ among jobseekers and companies, by improving the quality of online services and offering a better user experience.

1. The challenge

The revamp of the pole-emploi.fr site plays an integral role in Pôle emploi’s overall digital transformation strategy. It consists mainly of putting in place a set of online services to help jobseekers in their job search and their career development while helping companies recruit the profiles they need.

As part of their 2015-2020 strategic plan and 100% online project, Pôle emploi has been thinking about developing its e‑services. The goal moving forward is to make Pôle emploi the most sought-after online job portal, to provide greater transparency into the labor market, and better access to free services for both companies and jobseekers.

2. Our approach

The agency began working on the project to revamp pole-emploi.fr by analyzing their web and online content needs.

The first phase of the project consisted of collecting all necessary elements to understand the context, the brief, and notably Pôle emploi’s expectations. To get all the relevant parties on the same page, we organized a series of workshops that brought together the communication department, the employment teams and the IT team. For these sessions, we prototyped key page templates and workshopped use cases so that we could deliver on the target audience, which in this case were businesses.

Once this had been completed, we created set of wireframes to test the conclusions we came to in the workshops. The site map of the ‘Candidates’ section was completely reworked thanks to a card-based sorting process that helped integrate the needs of the web department and business teams.
